Lynnwood’s School Improvement Goal for ELA:

Long Term SIP Goal:

For grades 3-6, 51% of students will meet grade level proficiency as measured by the Smarter Balanced
Assessment (SBA) by Spring 2027. This is an increase from our baseline performance of 41% proficiency in
Spring 2024. (Benchmark Goals: 2025-44%, 2026-47%, 2027-51%)

Annual Goal:

For Grades 3-6, 47% of students will meet grade level proficiency as measured by i-Ready by Spring 2025.
This is an increase from our baseline performance of 34% proficiency in the Fall of 2024 and of 44% baseline
performance in Spring 2024.

Why:

e Continued demonstrated need for a focus on Reading Improvement

e Previous School Improvement cycle focus--desire to build on growth and momentum:
o Continuing to Strengthen Core Tier 1 Instruction while Emphasizing Intervention & Enrichment
o Creation & Reinforcement of Multiple Systems of Support
o Strengthening a Culture of Professional Learning & Collaboration

Theory of Action

Theory of Action:
If we:
e Provide a guaranteed and viable curriculum
e Align our scope and sequence
e Align assessments
e Analyze data of student learning in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
e Provide interventions and enrichment for our students (with an emphasis on supporting

multilingual learners)

Then we will:
e Ensure equitable access to rigorous instruction
e Develop literacy skills for grade level performance
e Increase achievement

Strategies to Actualize our Goals

Strategy 1: Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum- Align Assessments & Data Practices
e Why:
o This would align practices across every classroom
o Allows us to implement District Adopted Curriculum with Fidelity
o Enables us to collect quality formative assessment data to drive collaboration & further instructional steps

Strategy 2: Tier 2 Intervention design and implementation
e Why:

o This would ensure equity of access & meet learners where they are to further growth
o Builds high functioning multi-systems of support

o Increases practitioner knowledge of best instructional practices to build collective efficacy

Strategy 3: Supporting Multilingual Learners (Speaking & Oracy Skills)
e Why:
o Thirty One Percent (31%) of our school’s population are Multilingual Learners

o Historically our Multilingual Learners struggle more to reach proficiency than English speaking peers
o  Oracy is a key to literacy
