Parent document: REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 5_30 PM-02-12-2025.pdf
CONTINUED FROM previous page Students in conditional status may remain in school until the next dose in the sequence becomes due. Then they will then have 30 calendar days to turn in updated medically verified records showing they received the next dose in the sequence. If the series of doses is still not complete, condi- tional status continues under the same conditions. Ifthe 30 days expire without updated, medically verified records, the student must be excluded from further attendance. Changes to Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) Vaccine Requirement Lastly, the revisions to the rules governing immunization alter the requirement for a Tdap dose. Specifically, the revisions push the time period for the Tdap vaccine from grades 6-12 to grades 7-12. The revisions also clarify that all students in 7th grade must have received their Tdap dose on or after age 10 and students in 8th through 12th grades must have received their Tdap dose on or after age 7. You'll find revisions reflecting the rule change incorporated into Model Policy/Procedure 3413-Student Immunization and Life-Threatening Health Conditions; this is an Essential policy. The revisions also include clarifying language about exclusion from school due to meningococcal disease or human papillomavirus infection. The Department of Health has more information on immunization and school. MAY 2020 OTHER UPDATES Policy 2004 - Accountability Goals Category: ESSENTIAL These important revisions reflect the School Improvement Framework, which replaced the former Achievement Index. The Washington School Improvement Framework is part of the state’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plan and identifies how schools can improve the education of all students. Specifically, these revisions reflect that school boards must adopt district-wide performance improvement goals each year and direct the schools that enroll students in grades three through eight and/or high school to establish consistent goals. Policy 3131 - Transfers Category: DISCRETIONARY WSSDA has revised the model policy to address the scenario of a student moving out of the district to another country. Often in this scenario, the other country does not confirm the transfer in the manner that usually happens for transfers within the USA. This scenario has previously resulted in a negative withdrawal code for districts, thereby suggesting that Model Policy your district did not properly document the transfer. and Procedure 3413 Both OSPI and State Auditor’s Office have provided guidance stating that if districts have a policy in place, districts can report these scenarios as a transfer without a negative code. We have also renamed this model policy (previously “District Area Transfers) to reflect its broader application. Policy 5202 - Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Mandated Drug and Alcohol Testing Program Category: ENCOURAGED WSSDA has revised the model procedure to include language regarding notifying drivers and driver-applicants of certain drug and alcohol testing.
