SKSD Making an Impact: e Voted Best Employer in South Kitsap in 2023 and 2024 e Awarded top 3 employer in Kitsap County for 2023 south Kitsap 7 2024 f Survey of New SK Staff Fostering a Sense of Belonging Belonging is a core value in the South Kitsap School District. We are passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students and staff. We actively seek to understand the complex and rich identities of self and others and lean into and engage in courageous conversations. We know the educational environment is enhanced when diverse groups of people with unique ideas come together to learn and grow. Working with an engagement consultant: New South Kitsap Employees were surveyed about their experiences over the first 5 months on the job in areas such as: Sense of Accomplishment Autonomy Clear Expectations Environment Growth Recognition Relationships at Work Anticipated Retention The survey covered new employees from all areas including bus drivers, paraeducators, certificated instructional and administrative staff. Survey Results Overall, survey results were very positive. Examples: How will your previous experience help you to provide student centered learning strategies that embrace SKSD’s “Belonging” priorities? When planning a lesson, how do you prioritize differentiation so that each learner is able to access information in a way that is relevant to their needs? Please share your strategies for engaging parents/guardians in their children’s learning and behavior management. Collaboration Current calendar model was developed as a collaboration between union groups and input from the community. The District was able to reach a 3 year agreement with the SEIU in 2024. Looking Forward: Continue collaborative work of the “BIG 3” with our employee groups. (PLCs, MTSS, and Belonging.) Serving the students, staff, and families of SKSD through a vision of Happy, Healthy, and Safe policies and procedures.
