1. Call to Order - James A. Craig called the statutory/regular meeting of the Boone County Board of Education to
order.
1.1 The meeting was called to order by James A. Craig. (If the person who was the board's president at the end of June is still a
board member on July 1, he or she should preside at the July 1 meeting until the board elects a president for the next two
years.)

To administer the "Oath of Office" to the newly elected board members, to organize the board, and to administer the "Oath of
Office" to the member elected president of the board. (WV Code 18-5-1b and 1c)

Barry Brown nominated Mr. Craig for president of the board. Mr. Gibson seconded the nomination. No other nominations were
received. All members voted for James Craig for president.

Approved the proposal submitted by Angel Kennedy, Director of Exceptional Children, to update the stipend pay for school
referral agents,
Proposed:
* Base Pay: $1,000 to be paid in two installments (one per semester).
* Schools with more than 250 students: Increase the stipend to $1,200, also paid in two installments (one per semester).
Responsibilities of Referral Agents:
e Chairing and scheduling meetings for all the students in the school in the SAT process. Providing correct intervention logs
to the DEC to begin a Special Education Referral. Providing other critical paperwork needed by the DEC before and after a
student is referred for a Special Education evaluation and placement, including attendance reports, current and past
behavior logs, discipline reports, classroom interventions provided by the teacher, etc.
