2320F-1 Page 1 of 3 Today’s Date: February 6, 2024 BREMERTON SCHOOL DISTRICT FIELD TRIPS AND EXCURSIONS REQUEST FORM Bremerton High School NAME OF SCHOOL: NAME OF TEACHER(S): ___ Elise Erickson DATE(S) OF TRIP: _ April 4-12, 2025 TIME LEAVING SCHOOL: (AM/PM) TIME OF RETURN TO SCHOOL: (AM/PM) DESTINATION: _ France (Paris, Loire Valley, Normandy) a PURPOSE: (clearly define, add relationship to Essential Learnings) The purpose of the trip is to give students the opportunity to explore a different culture and practice the world language that they are studying at BHS PARTICIPANTS: (class/grade, group. specify who and how many) BHS students, grades 9-1%, most currently in French class. There will also be a few parents traveling with us and (depending on the number of travelers), 1-2 additional BHS staff chaperones ADULT SUPERVISORS*: (List adult supervisors, staff, and/or volunteers) *All adult supervisors, staff, and/or volunteers must adhere to Bremerton School District policies during the entire trip/excursion. Elise Erickson and additional BHS staff chaperones (TBD when we know how many chaperone places we will have) POTENTIAL RISK OR DANGER: (Example: Water, mountains, woods, etc.) Identify risk factors surrounding this excursion. international travel, COVID, pickpockets SAFETY ASSURANCE: Describe strategies and plans for safety assurance of the above- mentioned potential risks or dangers. Elise Erickson has extensive experience in international travel with students and trains them on safety procedures (including minimizing risks). We are also traveling with EF Tours, which means we will have a Tour Director on site with us at all times. EF has strict policies regarding health and safety and they also have a “Covid Safe Promise’ which ensures that if individuals or the whole group were to be delayed due to illness, EF covers hotels and food, will cover the cost of a parent to travel to France to be with the child (in the event it is only one person). Masks are currently required at all times on tour when with the whole group (for example, on the bus) STUDENT COST FOR THE TRIP: $3,819 SUBSTITUTE NEEDED? If so, for whom and for which people? A substitute is likely not needed because the tour will be during Spring Break plus the weekends on either side. However, if our dates get shifted by 1-2 days (improbable, but possible), it may be possible that there will need to be a sub for Elise Erickson for 1-2 days 2320F-1 Page 2 of 3 ARRANGEMENTS: The recommended mode of transportation for field trips should be the school district vehicles or vehicles belonging to a commercial carrier contracted by the district. If a private vehicle is used for transportation on a field trip, the owner of said vehicle must sign a transportation Letter of Awareness form. Field trip arrangements will be made at the building level by the building administrator. A request for transportation must be sent to the transportation supervisor two weeks prior to out-of-town trips and one (1) week prior to in-town trips. On tour transportation will be provided by EF. Depending on the times of our flights, we may need a ferry letter to get the group to/from the airport. Otherwise, Mode of Transportation families will be responsible for getting their student to/from the airport. Requests should be sent to the Superintendent at least two (2) weeks prior to the Board meeting before departure. (Board approval required before funds are solicited for any trip/excursion).
