NCTA Open Doors at Whatcom

» Foundationally built on the interests, aptitudes and
opportunities catered to students by removing barriers,
building and maintaining positive relationships.

» We will host for one year before converting to a WCSC
model as we bring more skills center programming to our
campus.

>» MSD will hire the instructor and be reimbursed by NCTA
for the 2024-25 school year.

» When we operationalize the WCSC in 2025-26, MSD will
be hosting the Open Doors program.



2025 Legislative Platform

>» WASA has moved forward with a focused legislative platform
to emphasize three specific areas that will provide significant
support to ALL 295 school districts.

STATE GUDOET

Washington ranks well below the national average for investment in K-
12 education as a percentage of Gross State Product (the state's output)

As Washington State's operating budget has increased, the percentage
dedicated to funding K-12 education has not kept up. Five years ago,
about 52.4% of the state's general fund budget was dedicated to K-12
education. Now, it s down to about 43.1%, even though it is the state's
constitutional responsibility to provide adequate funding to support
basic education services
