MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT leaning larkves here 2024 Maintenance and Facilities Summer Projects Review September 25", 2024 & A's Irene Reither Elementary 4 full time custodians are assigned to IRE (1 Lead & 3 evening) 100,245 Sq Ft, 43 classrooms plus auxiliary spaces cleaned, and minor maintenance performed by custodial team No classroom moves!!! John Picht (Lead Custodian) retired after 26 years of service with Meridian Maintenance spent three full weeks at IRE performing various repair and preventative maintenance work orders inside of the buildings Utilizing an OSPI grant, maintenance replaced and conditioned 19 water fixtures and supply lines in building B including the kitchen that tested high for lead 138 air filters changed annually IRE Office Water Leak Repair > Water damage was discovered in two offices A moisture investigation was performed by Geotest, and it was determined that improper construction procedures were the cause > Tiger Construction was contacted and agreed with the findings of the Geotest investigation > Tiger offered to make the required repairs at no cost to the district, even though the warranty period has lapsed AREA WITH EXTENE VE SS anal > Extensive repairs were required and included: > Removing and replacing all of the CMU on the exterior face > Replacing the sheeting and waterproofing membrane > Removing windows and properly sealing > Replacing interior wall board and wallpaper Much appreciation to Scott Isenhart and all of the Tiger Construction team for their response!!! Meridian Middle School \ 2.5 full time custodians are assigned to MMS (1 \ = Lead & 1.5 evening) 81,958 Sq Ft, 27 classrooms plus auxiliary spaces ‘a | _ cleaned, and minor building maintenance was , Tire \ performed by the custodial team | eee Wipes to maintain the campus at a standard that is consistent with district wide practices, regardless of the age of buildings MMS custodial team takes great pride and care - =pl'-= \ en Custodial team performed painting tasks in the main hallway and exterior ramps New backboards were installed on the basketball court | i! Wh MW HVAC and exhaust fans were added to spaces that have shifted their intended use and have become offices Maintenance performed over 35 plumbing Pr = repairs = 91 air filters changed annually Meridian High School > 3 full time custodians are assigned to MHS (1 Lead & 2 evening) > 141,626 Sq Ft, 26 classrooms plus auxiliary spaces cleaned, and minor building maintenance performed by custodial team > Custodial team attended a regional training on June 25" in Everett > Collaboration with peers > Product demonstrations > Breakout sessions Continued lighting repairs and upgrades to LED Campus courtyard and front lawn irrigation was repaired and modified. Fully working for the first time! > 221 air filters changed annually MHS Septic Drain Field > Received a violation letter from DOH in October 2023 for standing effluent in the drain field > A months long investigation and plan of action was put into place in partnership with DOH and our civil engineer > It was determined that the drain field needed to be excavated and have the plumbing and fill material replaced > In April 2024 the district was awarded a $550,000 Emergency Repair Grant through OSPI for engineering and construction > Iverson Earthworks was awarded the project and began work in July > 7,200 cubic yards of material was excavated > 6,060 lineal feet of pipe was removed and replaced > The project received final inspection by DOH on August 7h and was completed on August 26% No local dollars were expended on the emergency repair MHS Athletic Fields The practice football field was relocated to the open field near the FFA barn > Meridian Boosters club purchased an irrigation reel and storage containers Meridian Equipment provided a vibrating roller Maintenance staff, Athletic Director and coaches all came together to operate the roller The septic drain field area has been seeded and will become the new practice soccer field > Football practice has been permanently moved to reduce the high impact on the drain field The field will be available for full use during the spring ‘25 athletic season The district’s maintenance staff worked all summer to maintain the Varsity Athletic “lawn” > The team donated three hours each Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer to irrigate all athletic fields MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT learning tarkies here Productive Summer Work > Shift in custodial leadership and project management duties took place > Rob Dunn has transitioned and has been instrumental in supporting the district’s work > Custodial staff have been supportive and dedicated throughout the transition > All of the work took place within a shortened work window Questions?
