Preschool! Curriculum Adoption
2025

The preceding recommendation is submitted for adoption to the
Harrison County Board of Education by the undersigned
Harrison County Collaborative arly Childhood Core Team.

The curriculum review committee members consisted of two school classroom teachers, two
preschool special needs teachers, a child care curriculum specialist, and a Head Start teacher.
The review team used the state provided rubrics to evaluate both the general and specific
criteria from each of the approved vendors. After the rubrics were completed, committee
members as well as the Core Team members were invited to attend a vendor fair. Each of the
vendors outlined their curriculum and answered any questions from committee. After the
vendor fair, the curriculum review team was asked to present the pros and cons of each of the
curriculum choices to the Core Team. The Core Team then met and discussed the curriculums.
With a majority the Core Team is proposing Learning Beyond Paper as the curriculum choice for
Harrison County’s Universal Preschool Program.

The total for the proposed Harrison Universal Preschool Program is $188,980.00 for Year 1.
We respectfully recommend that the preschool curriculum adoption be approved as presented.

As a result of the process, the committee recommends that Learning Beyond Paper for use in all
collaborative preschoo! classroom in Harrison County.

Curriculum materials:

e Align with the WV Pre-K Standards {Ages 3-5)

* Provide a curricular system based on current research and knowledge of child
development and learning styles.

® Provides children with opportunities to make independent choices and decisions
within the classroom environment, including interactions, engagement, use of
materials, and center activities.

Ordering Process:

All resources for this adoption are for the teachers. Due to the policy requirements for
preschool, there are no student consumable resources. All teacher resources will be shipped
from the vendor to the Gore warehouse.

1. The Elementary Curriculum Coordinator participated in the WVDE 2024-25

Instructional Resources Caravan. During this time, vendors shared their
resources with participants.

2. Core Team members were provided a OneDrive folder with instructional
resources, content standard alignments, and rubric reviews provided by WVDE.
3. Acurriculum review committee was chosen based on classroom setting,
experience, and depth of preschoo! knowledge.
4. The Elementary Curriculum Coordinator met with preschoo! directors from
neighboring counties to discuss curriculum adoption choices.

J. The curriculum review committee was were asked to use all resources (digital
access, samples, and committee notes) to take a “Deep Dive” into the state
approved vendor list and complete the General and Specific Evaluation Criteria
Rubrics provided by WVDE.
2. Harrison County hosted a vendor fair and collaborative session with teachers and
directors from other counties.

1. The Core Team met with the curriculum review team to discuss their findings
from the rubrics and vendor fair.
2. With a majority vote of 3/4 Learning Beyond Paper was chosen.
