5460.01- EXTRA-CURRICULAR/INTERSCHOLASTIC PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year, students enrolled in a Jackson County public high school will have an additional
option to earn the required high school graduation credit for physical education.

As stated in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 2510, Foundations for High-Quality High School, a county has the
flexibility to issue the physical education graduation required credit to high school students.
Jackson County Schools Extra-Curricular Interscholastic Option:

Extra-curricular/ two (2) seasons of one (1) PE credit No Grade
Interscholastic Physical an approved placed on transcript
Education Non-Graded activity

Archery Marching Band
Baseball Volleyball
Basketball Soccer

Cross Country Tennis
Cheerleading Track

Football Wrestling
Golf

Softball

Rave Revue
Phoenix Blue

Guidance:

At the conclusion of each season, the band director/Athletic Director will submit a roster of students who have successfully
completed the season consisting of at least sixty (60) contact hours to the high school guidance department. Students who
have completed two (2) seasons of an activity can be awarded their PE credit.
