ACKSON COUNTY SCHOOLS Cxcdlawe. Tt movabion. (Success, Summer School 2024 Summer School opportunities will be offered for the purpose of academic remediation, credit recovery, and enrichment. Staff for summer school offerings will be employed on an as needed basis, subject to change based on student enrollment. Elementary School Summer School (Kindergarten-Grade 5 Teacher Contract Term: June 14-July 26, 2024 Student Attendance Days: June 17-July 25, 2024 (Mondays-Thursdays) 8:15 am-2:45 pm Programs will be held at Ripley Elementary and Henry J. Kaiser only. Core academic components of Reading Language Arts and Mathematics will be provided daily with a staffing plan of 1 teacher for every 10-12 students. Support will be provided for students with special needs. Transportation services will be offered this summer due to the inclusion of summer programs being an option to avoid retention in HB 3035. The ten (10) bus routes established in summers previous will be the general framework for pickup/drop-off locations throughout the county. Transportation will work to make needed changes. Breakfast and lunch will be available for participating students. Contingent on student participation, the following staffing levels are planned based off of last years participation: Location # of Teachers The elementary summer school programs will be supported by a summer school administrator at each location. Counseling services will be provided at each location, and nurse positions will be evaluated based on student enrollment and student need. Middle School Summer School (Grade 8) Teacher Contract Term: June 10-July 19, 2024 Student Attendance Days: June 12-July 18, 2024 8:00 am-3:00 pm Academic recovery programs, supported by PLATO, will be available to middle school students. These courses will be offered on the high school campuses in conjunction with the high school summer school. Support will be provided for students with special needs. Breakfast and lunch will be available for participating students. Based on anticipated student participation, the following staffing levels are planned: Location PLATO Instructor Ravenswood High Ripley High High School Summer School (Grades 9-12) Teacher Contract Term: June 10-July 19, 2024 Student Attendance Days: June 12-July 18, 2024 8:00 am-3:00 pm Credit recovery courses, supported by PLATO, will be provided in grades 9-12. Virtual School courses will be provided to high school students wishing to complete full courses for credit toward graduation. Support will be provided for students with special needs. Transportation services will be planned based on student participation and efficient operation of bus routes. Breakfast and lunch will b e available for participating students.
